Dole Celeries

About Celery

  • A "cool-season" relative of the cabbage family
  • With a crunchy texture and distinctive flavor, celery is often added to salads and cooked dishes
  • Most people eat the long stalks but the leaves, roots and seeds are all edible and naturally healthy

Selecting

Look for compact, straight and crisp celery that is unblemished. Leaves should be fresh-looking.

Storing

You can keep celery fresh in your refrigerator for up to two weeks. Make sure you store it uncut, unwashed and away from fruits and other vegetables, as it may absorb other odors.

Eating

Trim green leaves, cut off the rib base and wash thoroughly before eating the stalks raw or boiled. Just 5 to 7 minutes in salted boiling water or steam will give you crisp and tender celery. Keep the leaves to flavor your soups and sauces !
