About Pineapples
- This sweet, juicy tropical delight was tasted by Christopher Columbus on Guadeloupe in 1493
- Today there are many varieties, including new super-sweet varieties rich in vitamin C
- Each round scale on your pineapple is actually a little fruit that fused with all the others as it grew
Selecting
Select a pineapple that looks fresh, has green leaves and is slightly soft to the touch.
Storing
Pineapples do not ripen after harvest. DOLE Pineapples are picked ripe and transported in refrigerated containers that keep the fruit at 7,5 °C at all times.
You can store a DOLE Pineapple in your refrigerator for 2 to 4 days; only a couple of days if already sliced.
Eating
Natural, fresh pineapple is sensational! Just twist off the crown, cut the pineapple in half and then into quarters. Trim off ends and remove core. Using a thin knife, cut the shell from the fruit. Slice into bite-size pieces.
Add pineapple to your fruit salad, yoghurt or ice cream. It also goes well with ‘sweet and sour’ dishes and meats such as pork and chicken.
