Dole Currants

About Currants

  • Small translucent berries: red, pink, white or black
  • Red and black currants are most popular in Europe
  • Very tart sweetness, especially black currants
  • Rich in vitamin C
  • Not to be confused with the Zante currant which is in fact a raisin (small dried grape)

Selecting

Look for the rich, shiny color of ripe currants. To ensure maximum taste and sweetness, DOLE Currants are allowed to ripen on the bush after achieving full color.

Storing

Can be kept in your refrigerator for a few days or frozen for several months. To enjoy the full flavor, let your fruit return to room temperature before eating.

Eating

Red and white currants are eaten fresh and used for garnishes. Blackcurrants are much tarter and their distinctive sharp, fruity taste makes them ideal ingredients for juices, jams, sauces, ice cream and liqueurs.
