Dole Cranberries

About Cranberries

  • Small, glossy, deep-red berry with smooth skin
  • Very sharp tasting when raw; sweet when cooked
  • Native to North America
  • Shipped fresh or frozen to Europe
  • Source of vitamin C

Selecting

Go for plump, firm and unblemished cranberries. Their skin can vary from light to dark red but should always be shiny.

Storing

You can store a bag or pack of cranberries at room temperature for a few weeks and in the cold part of your refrigerator for several months. Can be deep frozen too.

Eating

Usually prepared as cranberry sauce, based on the timeless American tradition of Thanksgiving turkey and other festive occasions. Generally prepared slightly tarter in Europe. We recommend that you rinse them in cold water and remove their stems just before cooking.
